Maintaining The Pure Essence Of Medicinal Herbs

Posted on April 2, 2020

Consumers are often concerned or interested in how products (particularly medicines) are manufactured and how any process undertaken during production ensures that the goodness of the herb is protected.

We talk about things like “minimal processing” which basically translates into manufacturing of herbal medicines or remedies where there is no excessive treatment of the raw botanical ingredient in order to preserve the vital phytochemical properties and complete plant profile.

At PPC Herbs, we subscribe to minimal processing of our herbs. Our production facility is a licensed manufacturing site with organic certification. We have the highest regard for attention to quality standards and ensure that anything we produce meets the appropriate guidelines of our license. We think our standards are in keeping with the overall Made In Australia quality mark and for anyone searching for safety and assurance of quality, Australian Made should be your first port of call.

Herbs are by nature are delicate botanical biomass; they represent traditional approaches to treatment that have been around for hundreds if not thousands of years. Certainly, they have stood the test of time and will continue to do so.

We take these wonders of nature and use gentle extraction processes such as use of cold percolation where the herb is placed in an extraction tower and exposed to cold extraction solvents ensuring over time that the key elements of the plant profile are extracted. We also employ the use of “steeping”, this process is applied to our beautiful fresh plant herbs and within hours of harvest, the herbs are placed in large vessels to undergo cold solvent extraction methods.

Our 30 years of expertise shows that using these tried and tested processing systems protects our raw materials. We don’t use heat at any time during extraction, the intention is to preserve vital phytochemicals and by doing this in a cold or ambient environment, the likelihood of losing valuable volatile components is minimized.

So yes, PPC Herbs practice what they preach; we feel confident of our manufacturing processes and to date, our customers appreciate the efforts we go to in order to capture the complete botanical profile of our herbal ingredients.

Herbal medicines and remedies are further enhanced when held as liquids direct from the extraction process. Liquids have a higher bioavailability compared to tablets and capsules so that you know when taking the medicines, they go to work immediately
